Preparing to go.

A number of people have asked how they can keep up to date with what we are doing in the coming year. So I have started this blog. At this stage I have no idea how it will develop and whether it will become very sophisticated with many appropriate links and deep theological comment! I’m simply starting at the level of wanting to give out some news of what we are doing to those who might be interested.

Our plan is to fly out from Heathrow next Thursday evening (July 31st) and arrive in Cape Town on Friday morning. We have a flat that has been arranged for us by the Jubilee Church in Cape Town and we shall be working mainly with Jubilee over the coming year. The first Sunday we are there should be clear simply to attend the church and then I preach at Jubilee the next 2 Sundays. I anticipate preaching there fairly regularly over the coming year and also being involved in leadership training. Stephen van Rhyn who leads the church has asked me if I’d be prepared to preach somewhere on most Sundays - I told him that’s what I do now; so I’m not expecting anything different!

Sue hopes to disciple some young women while we are there; something she has done brilliantly for some years here in CCK. One of the young ladies we know well in the church has also promised to take her around the garden centres - Sue will be up for that.

So we are about to begin a new adventure in our lives and at the moment we are getting everything sorted out and prepared for the year ahead. I hope to add to this blog with frequent updates, so we’d be pleased to have your company during the coming year.
