Some days can be quite wet and stormy, cool rather than cold, but some days can be like good summer days in the UK. Being winter there seems to be some flu around, some of the swine variety and some not associated with pigs. Last Sunday all the Elders went sick apart from Steve van Rhyn, so it may have been particularly helpful that I was here to preach. We had a good day, lots of students in the evening meeting. Just like CCK there is a morning meeting with a repeat in the evening; so I preached the same message twice from verses in Philippians 3 and 4.

Monday turned out to be one of the warm and sunny days so we went up the West Coast where they have a wonderful dsiplay of early spring flowers. Went to a garden in a town called Clanwilliam where the colours and variety of the flowers are just spectacular. It was here that we were accosted  by 3 boys who threatened to club me with a rock and so I handed over about 2 quid in change just before Sue’s shouts alerted a young gardener who came to give chase. It ended with us giving a police statement and a reminder we just need to be a little careful in this country. They’ve never had trouble in that garden before so we were just unfortunate, though grateful for God’s protection.

Last night the church started a series of 6 dance classes for those wishing to learn, which I think concludes with a ‘proper’ dance in about 2 months time. Sue has long suggested it would be a good retirement project, so we joined about 30 other couples for a really fun, though slightly exhausting evening, doing the salsa. There was quite a lot of  hip swinging and as this comes naturally to both charismatics and africans some were well away!

Sue has joined both Facebook and a Gym so the levels of contact and fitness are just incredible!
